Emulsified and homogenized fuels - stable, low-emission, industry-compatible
With its cavitation-based fuel technology - the CaviFlow® inline modules - RAPTECH provides an innovative solution for blending and homogenizing low-emission fuels. The technology is designed for alternative marine fuels, for refineries and industrial plants.

CaviFlow® is a hydrodynamic cavitation module for continuous homogenization, emulsification and stabilization of liquids in industrial blending processes. The fuel technology is integrated directly into pipes, making it particularly suitable for high throughputs and viscous media. In contrast to agitators or tank mixers, homogenization with CaviFlow® takes place completely inline, without additional process steps or dwell times. Compared to ultrasonic homogenizers, CaviFlow® works without external sources and is therefore scalable, low-maintenance and suitable for high industrial throughputs. More detailed information on fuel technology can be found here.

Application of the fuel technology:

  • Efficient blending and homogenization of conventional, bio- and pyrolysis-based fuels
  • Fuel treatment processes including desalination, desulphurization and feedstock conversion
  • Production of stable water-in-fuel emulsions
  • Reduction of sludge formation in fuel systems
  • Improved effectiveness of fuel additives and improved combustion performance

How does RAPTECH's CaviFlow® fuel technology work?

  • In the CaviFlow® inline module , the fluid is guided through a specially developed geometry. This generates hydrodynamic cavitation. These are high-energy microflows that finely distribute and stabilize particles, droplets or phases. The result is reduced droplet and particle sizes, an even distribution of the components and improved stability of the blend.

With CaviFlow® , homogenization takes place directly in the running process and requires neither separate mixing stages nor additional dwell times, as is usual with classic stirring or tank solutions. In contrast to conventional ultrasonic homogenizers, the technology does not require oscillating elements or mechanically moving components. As a result, the system is easily scalable and is characterized by low maintenance requirements.

RAPTECH cavitation technology is ideal for :
  • Emulsions with heavy fuel oil (HFO)
  • Combinations of HSFO, VLFO and ULSFO
  • Biodiesel as a renewable energy source
  • Bioethanol for industrial use
  • Pyrolysis oil from recycled plastics
  • Hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO)
  • Glycerine-based fuel solutions
  • Water-in-fuel emulsion systems
  • Qualitative upgrading of heavy fuels
  • Cavitation-based fuel reforming
  • Optimization of atomization properties
  • Demand-oriented use of additives
